Artist Statement

David Duncan's artwork is very varied and takes in drawing, painting and sculpture.  Drawing is the backbone of all his work and therefore supports everything he does.  He moves with a sketchbook and regularly attends life drawing classes. His ideas come from many sources. The human form features heavily in what he does. He also tries to bring his background and interests into play. He was a scientist and lived abroad for a number of years. He has also travelled widely. World events influence his artwork. He is drawn to areas of conflict and other cultures. The Middle East and conflict seem to go hand in hand these days and having lived there he finds that it still pulls him in.  He carefully researches all his projects although not all of them are successful.

He likes to tell a story.
